Privacy Policy
Your information should have a clear purpose.
This notice explains what this website collects, why it is used, who may process it, and the choices you have.
Last updated: August 15, 2026.
1. Who is responsible for this website
This website is operated for Donald P Andrechek. Donald is the privacy contact for information collected through the website and Reader Room.
Privacy questions, access or correction requests, account deletion requests, and Reader List concerns can be sent to don_cawsc@hotmail.com.
2. Information collected when you browse
You can read the public book, article, TTP, author and contact pages without creating an account. Like most websites, the hosting and security infrastructure may process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an IP address, browser or device information, request time, and requested page.
The site does not currently use third-party behavioural advertising. If analytics or advertising tools are added later, this policy will be updated before they are intentionally used to collect information beyond what is described here.
3. Reader Room applications and accounts
If you apply to join the private Reader Room, the site collects the information needed to review and operate your membership: your name, email address, application reason, account status, application and approval dates, and your acceptance of the current Reader Room terms. Your email address is also used for account confirmation, sign-in and account-related messages.
Your password is submitted to the authentication provider for account security. Donald does not receive or see your password in the Reader Room application database.
Browser storage or similar session technology may be used to keep an authenticated member signed in and to protect private member access.
4. Reader Room messages
Approved members may post messages in the private Reader Room. A post includes the message, the member account that posted it, and a timestamp. Your displayed name and message can be seen by other approved members. The Reader Room is private from the general public, but it is not a confidential communications service.
Do not post passwords, financial information, medical records, private addresses, identification numbers, or other sensitive information about yourself or anyone else.
5. Free chapter preview requests
If you request the free first two chapters of The House Where Truth Went Quiet, the site collects your first name and email address, the date of the request, and whether you separately chose Reader List email permission. This information is stored through Supabase so the preview request can be provided, recorded and administered.
Providing an email address to open the free preview does not automatically subscribe you to marketing. Reader List permission is optional and is recorded separately when you choose it.
6. Reader List and marketing consent
The Reader List is optional and separate from Reader Room membership. You do not have to join the Reader List to apply for or keep Reader Room membership.
If you subscribe through the Reader List page, your name or email address and subscription information are processed through the newsletter service. If you choose the optional Reader List box on the Reader Room application, that consent is recorded separately from your membership application and may be used to add you to the Reader List.
Reader List emails may include book releases, articles, free reading and author news. You can unsubscribe using the unsubscribe method in a Reader List email or by contacting Donald. Marketing consent can be withdrawn without cancelling Reader Room membership.
7. Contact and email
If you contact Donald by email, the email address you use and the contents of your message are received and used to respond to your enquiry and keep any follow-up that is reasonably necessary. The Contact page opens your own email application; it does not send your message through a hidden website form.
8. Service providers
The site uses service providers to perform specific technical functions. Current providers include Cloudflare for website delivery and hosting infrastructure, Supabase for Reader Room authentication, profiles, database, member chat and free chapter request records, Brevo for authentication-related email delivery, and Kit for Reader List subscriptions and email delivery. Supporting content-delivery infrastructure may also receive ordinary technical connection data when browser scripts are loaded.
These providers process information under their own systems and terms. Information may be processed or stored outside Canada. When information is processed in another country, it may be subject to the laws and lawful-access requirements of that jurisdiction.
9. How information is used
- to deliver and secure the website;
- to review Reader Room applications and administer approvals;
- to authenticate members and maintain private member access;
- to display and moderate Reader Room messages;
- to provide and record requested free chapter previews;
- to keep records of optional Reader List consent;
- to send requested Reader List or account-related email;
- to respond to enquiries, privacy requests and complaints; and
- to prevent spam, misuse, security incidents or unlawful activity.
10. Disclosure
Personal information is not sold. It may be disclosed to the service providers described above when required to operate the site, or when disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the website, users or legal rights, or is required or permitted by applicable law.
11. Retention
Personal information is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including account administration, membership decisions, moderation, consent records, security and legal obligations. Information that is no longer reasonably required may be deleted or anonymized. Some provider logs or backups may remain for a limited period after an account or record is deleted.
12. Safeguards
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for the sensitivity of the information involved. The Reader Room uses authenticated accounts and database access controls intended to restrict private member information and chat access. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so members should use a unique password and avoid placing sensitive information in the chat.
13. Your choices and privacy requests
You may ask what personal information the site holds about you, request correction of inaccurate information, withdraw optional Reader List consent, or request deletion of your Reader Room account or information, subject to information that must reasonably be retained for legal, security or record-keeping purposes.
Send a written request to don_cawsc@hotmail.com. Enough information may be requested to verify that the request relates to your own account.
14. Privacy laws and complaints
This policy is intended to support the privacy obligations that may apply to the site, including applicable Canadian private-sector privacy requirements. Depending on where you live and the nature of the interaction, additional privacy rights may apply.
If you have a privacy concern, please contact Donald first so it can be reviewed. You may also have the right to contact the appropriate privacy regulator, including the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, where applicable.
15. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if the website, Reader Room, service providers, legal requirements or information practices change. The current version and update date will be posted on this page.
